About Dr. Elizabeth VanLeeuwen

I am extremely excited to be Cosmetic Dentistry of New Mexico. I knew from our very first meeting with Doctors at Academy Dental Care that I shared the same passion for high quality, comprehensive dentistry. My patients over the years have been like family to me. I strive to make recommendations and give advice about their health as I would my own mom or dad. As such, it is very important to me that patients feel relaxed and comfortable. I would like to think of my partnership with patients as a team, and while I can make treatment recommendations based on experience, ultimately I want to make those decisions with you, as a partner in your care. Also, as dentists, we are keenly aware of the connection between dental health and overall systemic health, and I focus my treatment planning on comprehensive care, addressing underlying causes of dental issues, so we can achieve better and longer lasting results.

I graduated from Northwestern University with a BA in Psychology in 1996. I earned my Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Indiana University School of Dentistry in May of 2000, and completed a one year General Practice Residency in Chicago through the Advocate Healthcare system after dental school. Continuing education is a huge priority for me. I love to learn and find that each time I attend a class it infuses a new love and excitement for dentistry in me. For the last 22 years I have worked in both private and corporate dentistry. My ultimate goal was to find a practice like this one, that aligned so perfectly with my desire to provide the very highest quality comprehensive dental care.

While I’m originally from the midwest, I currently reside in Albuquerque and am a mom to two fantastic teenage girls, the oldest of whom just received her learner’s permit (both exciting and scary). In my free time I love to ski, hike and run. I also love just staying home and curling up with a good book when I can.
