My husband had an appointment yesterday for what we believed would be needing a crown. After review, and safely handling the process, it was determined that he needed a filling only. The procedure was handled in office, same day, safely, considerately and promptly...

Customizing Your Bonding Treatment

The dental bonding procedure is personalized to the needs of the individual. During your appointment, Dr. Wall will assess the affected areas and choose a composite resin shade that will most closely match your teeth.

Some patients elect to receive whitening before bonding to remove stains. The bonding material can be matched to the lighter shade of the teeth, resulting in a complete smile makeover. After Dr. Wall has listened closely to your personal concerns and aesthetic goals, he will begin the treatment process.

The Dental Bonding Procedure

When patients come to our Albuquerque practice for bonding treatment, they can expect several simple steps:

Anesthesia

For certain cases, we may administer local anesthesia to numb the treatment area.

Prepping the Tooth

To prepare the tooth for application of the bonding material, Dr. Wall will use dental etching, a mildly acidic solution that will roughen the surface of the tooth and help the resin adhere to the tooth.

Applying the Composite Resin

Once the tooth is prepped, the composite resin is applied. Dr. Wall will carefully mold and shape the material to achieve the desired size and shape for the bonded tooth.

Curing the Material

After the resin has been applied, it will be hardened with a special curing light.

Final Adjustments

Lastly, Dr. Wall will trim, smooth, and shape the material and polish the bonded tooth to achieve a natural-looking shine. He will also ensure that the material does not interfere with your bite.
